Interim car services have been designed for those car owners who are doing more than 20,000 miles per year. These drivers will need to have their car serviced more than once a year, but this doesn’t mean they need two full car services.
Typically, an interim service is completed every 6 months. This will generally involve an oil change, oil filter replacement, checks of major components such as clutch, steering, brakes, tyres and hoses. Detailed reports are given about each of the components. The garage will also top up any fluid levels that are running low such as coolant levels or brake fluid.
However, different garages will include different tasks in their interim service. If you are unsure about what’s included, ask the mechanic and they will be happy to explain what their service covers and what the difference is with their full service.
Depending on the make and model of your car, and how easy it is to reach the components the garage checks, an interim service will take on average around an hour and a half to complete. If there are multiple issues found, it will take a bit longer. A full car service will take longer because it’s more extensive.
